A message about FPV from Ford Australia

Late yesterday, we announced the Ford XR8 sedan will return to our Falcon line-up in late 2014. Since you have contacted us in the past about FPV, we want to inform you directly that this occasion will also mark the retirement of the FPV brand.

This marks the end of a celebrated era, a wonderful history going back 12 years as FPV and of course many years before that in our performance relationship with Tickford. You have been a part of this journey, this history and we thank you for your support and passion in making the FPV models and engines celebrated successes.

We have planned a series of actions during 2014 to ensure the final FPV models’ iconic status is appropriately celebrated.

But that’s not all.

Performance is part of our history and will always be in our DNA. We’re bringing new performance engines and technologies in more varied models to our shores – from Fiesta ST to the soon-to-be-released Mustang.

We invite you to be part of our future performance journey.

Again, we thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Relationship Centre at *protected email* or via phone at 133 673. Alternatively, please speak to your local Ford Dealer.

Yours sincerely,
Graeme Whickman

Ford to kill GT Falcon early

Sad news if true.

From Drive

Ford's iconic GT Falcon will be an early casualty of the blue oval's decision to shut down its local manufacturing operations.

An inside source has confirmed to Drive that Ford Performance Vehicles – the company's official performance division – will be killed off next year when the final iteration of the Falcon is launched.

In a bid to ensure fans of fast Fords are still catered for until the Falcon is phased out in 2016 – and eliminating the costs to produce new unique visual parts of FPV vehicles – it is understood the company will revive the XR8 badge utilising the GT's high-performance components, such as its 335kW supercharged V8 engine, Brembo brakes and sports suspension.
